Well , it's been again .. a while since I last posted something ... ahmmm last year ?? First of all belated wishes for new year ( well , I'm right on time for the Orthodox New Year :D ), hoping 2013 will brings you what you wish for .... My mail had an X-mas break as well , but from 3rd of January and on the mailman seemed to have found the way to my home again , so lets see the first cards of the new year starting with my beloved Italy and a card from Verona sent by my dearest Ana ( I won't forget you dear when I hit the road again :D ) Verona is a beautiful city in Veneto with a long history ( what a surprise for Italy :D) but what first comes to my mind is Shakespeare's 'Romeo & Juliet' .... seems I'm hopelessly romantic ... Just found out that in year 2000 the city of Verona was listed in unesco ~ whs. I can't say yet that I collect whs but of course they are more than welcome :) многу благодарение на Ана ♥

Milano , Italy
After all I was in the mood for some more postcards. The night is so damn hot so I can't sleep that easy ( Yes , I know the calendar says 1st of October but it feels like we're in the middle of August . Weather forecast said 34C for today aaaaarrghhh ), so let's do some posting now that I feel like it . Starting with a Metro Network map that of Milano ...
The thanks for that card go to me . In my trip there I haven't bought any cards ( strange ~ but I saved the game later on in Pordenone & Venice hihihi ) but I kept this card given to me when I was asking directions to our hostel. Communication in Italy can be a bit of a problem if you are not fluent in Italian as they are not fluent in any language . That was the case with the lady in Metro. I could speak a bit , my boyfriend none , so I had to do the talking . That woman and the vast majority of Italians are really friendly and helpful despite the language barriers but somehow something got lost in translation and she advised us to get off at LOTTO Fiera 2 while the right one was QT8. Just one station away but it was enough for us to get lost ;D It was winter , evening and cold ( for me at least :P) and foggy , not many people around to ask , 0 people with basic English knowledge , I had no idea of the whereabouts and with Nuri totally complaining all the time and not let me concentrate, we wandered about a couple of hours :PPP At least I saw Stadium "Giuseppe Meazza " ( I was the football fan of the two of us and a Paolo Maldini admirer <3 ) From that day I never forgot QT8 , it became an inside joke for us .The fact is that both stations are really close but the hostel indicated QT8 as the right one and there are signs there directing you to the hostel . We found out the next day anyways in the broad daylight :))))Look at the map here and laugh

Pordenone, Italy
Last one for today comes from Italy and the lovely city of Pordenone . It is a lovely little city in the Italian north very near to Venice . I have visited there in 2005 but this card had come more than 10 years prior to my visit from my dear Giovanni. In the forgaround you can see one of their recognizable spot Il campanile del duomo ( Cathedral Tower ) which was built in 1374 and later a spire was added during the 17th century that led it to reach a height of about 79 meters. In the back ground you can barely see the Alps ! In reality the Alps are more visible than this , maybe it was due to the fact that I visited in December and of course the Alps were snowcapped ;)))

Turin , Italy
Surprise number two ! A very kind person I had swapped before remembered my birthday and send this beautiful card from Torino. It is the 2nd nice gesture he has done to me and I feel guilty that I have missed his birthday that were just few days ago. I'm so terrible in remembering birthdays that I'm sure that I'll forget my own one day ! I will think a good way to make up for this :)
Card is showing the " Giardini Reali " ( Royal Gardens ) of Turin and I love its autumn colours .
I'm a pure autumn child born on the Autumnal Equinox aka the first day of autumn :D
Grazie mille Renato !

Rapallo , Italy
Rapallo is in north Italy very close to Genova, is included in Parco Naturale Regionale di Portofino . The first settlement dates from 8th century BC although it is not clear whether it was Greek or Etruscan .Friedrich Nietsche wrote that the ideas for Zarathustra first came to him as he was walking in Rapallo . One of its main sights is the "Castello sul mare " (Castle on the sea ) erected in 1551 as a protection against the pirates and beautifully depicted in the card that Laura chose for me ! Grazie carissima !

Turin , Italy
Italy is one of my favorite countries ( I have many btw ) and I'm lucky enough to live close enough and I have visited it twice ! Of course there is a lot of places that I didn't have the chance to see YET :D One of them is Turin ( Torino ). This is Piazza San Carlo which according to Renato ( the kind person who send this ) is one of the most beautiful ones in his city ! There are two Churches : of Santa Cristina & of San Carlo ( hence the name of the Square! Plus the Statue of Emanuele Filiberto (2nd Duke of Aosta & Crown Prince of Spain ) Grazie a Renato for this beautiful card !
Pordenone , Italy
This card brings me some nice memories ! Cause I have been to Pordenone myself even though I couldn't spend so much time there and enjoyed it ! Pordenone is a very cute town in the north east of Italy , very close to Venice ! It was created in the High Middle ages as a river port of the Noncello . The card shows "Chiesa della Santissima " ( in english Church of the Holiest ~woman~) so I assumed it is dedicated to Virgin Mary who is for the Catholics ( and for us the Orthodox Christians as well ) the holiest woman ! Card was sent as a thank you gift from Renato when he read in my card that I had visited his parents' hometown ! ( He lives In Torino ) Grazie -Grazie -Grazie !
