and the last one for today comes from Belarus and the town of Glybokae . I couldn't find much info about the town or the monastery in the card . The sender informed me that Glybokae is located on north-west part of the country and with my poor knowledge of Belarrussian I figured out that it is a Franciscan monastery dedicated to Virgin Mary . Many thanks to Victoria

Hrodna , Belarus
Another small update for the cards that have arrived since the last time I was here. Let's start with the official one coming from the city of Hrodna in Belarus ! Although Belarus is mainly an orthodox country , Hrodna is the center of Catholicism due to its proximity to Poland and a significant Polish minority in the city ! So here it is the Franciscan monastery of the city build in 1635. This card made my day due to to the sender's artistic mood at the back of the card. It put a huge smile in my face this morning :) Thanks!

Belarus
This weekend was dedicated to my blog. Finally I found the way to crop the stamps ( don't tease , I know it was easy after all ) so I decided to match every card to its stamps. I had to do it at once because if I leave things for the next day I do them the next year ..or simply never :D My room hence was full of piles with cards ... new cards with stamps .... old cards with stamps ... old cards to be uploaded ... new covers ... but now I'm proudly announcing that I'm done with it ! Every card that was written & stamped is appearing now with its mate :)))
Last week was really poor in incoming mail ( and the outgoing seems delayed as well ) but an envelope which I thought it was lost finally appeared. It came from Belarus and it needed 2 months to find my home ! Better late than ever :)
First card is Niesvizh Palace & Park Ensemble
Second card is the Belarusian State Museum of Folk Architecture & Rural Lifestyle
Third card St Sophia Cathedral in Polatsk .
Many thanks to Maria

Mir , Belarus
This beautiful card came through a direct swap from Belarus and Dmitri ! It is showing Mir Castle complex which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site . Building of the castle was completed in the early 16th century by Duke Ilinich . The darkest point in it's history probably was on WW2 when it was used by the Nazi's as a gheto for the local Jewish population. Many thank you Dmitri :)

Vitebsk , Belarus
Vitebsk is a beautiful city in Belarus near the Russian border. It has been part of the Lithuanian_Polish commonwealth, then annexed by Russian empire. By the Soviet era was firstly part of SSR Byelorussia then Russian SSR , then of Litbel , until it was finally returned to Belarus. Before WW2 it had a signifigant Jewish population comprising the half of the city's total . In fact the most well-known son of this city -at least to me -was the jewish artist Marc Chagall. In this card you can see the Town Hall between Holy Assumption Cathedral and Resurrection Church . Spasibo Nadia

Braslau Lakes , Belarus
A private swap from Belarus ! Braslau Lakes is one of the seven National Parks of Belarus ! It was set up in September 1995. It includes 30 lakes and pine forests in a total area of 700 sq. km. The largest lakes are Dryvyaty, Snudy and Strustra. At the back side the Catholic Church of the Heart of Jesus can be seen . Roman Catholics are a numarable minority in Belarus , about 15% of the total population mostly concentrated in the western part of the country , which is also the place where the Polish & Lithuanian minorities live ! Spashibo dear Inna :)

Minsk , Belarus
Here it comes my next card for today . It's an official one from Minsk , Belarus ! Belarus is one of the countries in Europe I don't know many things about , but it seems to be a really beautiful country ! The card shows a panorama of the Upper Town of Minsk and the Trinity Suburb. Minsk is the capital and a major city of Belarus ( 1.8 million inhabitants ) as well as the Headquarters of " Commonwealth of Independent States"The oldest mentions of Minsk date back to 11th century , in 1326 it became part of Grand Duchy of Lithuania and received its town priviledges in 1499 Later it became the capital of the Minsk Vojvodship in the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth. It was annexed by Russia in 1793 as a consequence of the 2nd Partition of PolandDuring 1919-1991 it was the capital of Byelorussian SSR Many thanks to Dima &Luda for this card
