Bombinhas , Brazil

After the two touchnote cards from Brazil that Genesio sent me , the actual one came too :) It was mailed first and received last but that's our postal life , isn't it ? So here you are a spectatcular view of Praia de Bombas - Bombinhas in Santa Catarina region  in the south of Brazil. Muita alegria ...:)

Sao Paulo , Brazil

Here you are a card of  Tunel do Senna in Sao Paulo , Brazil. I guess everybody knows who Ayrton Senna was ! I mean I was never into F1 but I knew he was the ultimate star of his era and I was so shocked by  his death back in 1994. I have skipped one day's class at school so I could go and sign the "Condolences book" of the Brazilian Embassy here. That must have been the only time I skipped school for a serious reason ! His death was a reason for 3 days national mourning in Brazil .One year after his death Sao Paulo honoured one of its most famous sons with this complex ! Sou obrigada a Rafael !

And here you are a photo of Ayrton !

Samsung Touchnote Part II

2 more lovely surprises came thanks to Samsung Touchnote Promotion. The one with the flower came from my dear Barbel in Germany and shows a blue poppy in one park of Bremen and it's lovely while the second card comes from Brazil and shows some famous spots plus my friend Genesio picture :) Thank you both

Samsung Touchnote Promotion

I'm listing this 3 cards together even one is from a far different place than the other two , as they were sent via Samsung Touchnote  free campaign during the Olympic Games ! Even though I'm not sure that I count them as "real" postcards , I mean as collective items. , since they are plastic coated, computer-typed and send from Guernsey with a simple "postage paid" sign ( I wish I had an actual Guernsey card ), they made me day when I received them as I took them as a guesture " I'm thinking of you " from some people we already have exchanged with . One of them was not surprise at all since I send it to my precious self :D

So 1st one is from my dear -ME ! and it is showing a wonderful view from Istinye , Istanbul that I had taken with my own camera and is not available in any postcards . This place has always a special place in my heart and I wanted to have it printed in a card.

2nd one is from Istanbul again , from the center of the city this time in the heart of Beyoglu ! IT shows the facade of the famous Cicek Pasaji in Istiklal Avenue. It is a covered passage first openen in 1876, firstly as Naum theater . 4 years later a fire breaks out , and it was destroyed , a greek banker buys it and a fellow greek architect gives it this look. At that time it was called Cite de Pera or simply Hristaki pasaji by the name of his owner. In 1908 the Ottoman Grand Vizier Sait Pasha is purchasing it , and of course it renames as Sait Pasha pasaji . Following the Russian Revolution , many impoverished noble Russian women were selling flowers there , hence it is final name Cicek Pasaji ( flower passage ). After it's restoration in 1988 it was reopened with many restaurants and cafes in the inside. It sums up the history of Istanbul somehow , how cosmopolitan and metropolitan it has always been. Photo was taken & turned into a card by my dear Belkis

3rd is the famous Iguazu falls in Brazil ( see the story in my other Brazil related post ) " Responsible for this card  is Genesio . Thank you both

Iguazu falls , Brazil

I'm a really impatient person in general and in that particular point it has to do with "Postcrossing" ! Well not about that site itself but the "long" time the post offices take to get a card from point A to point B !I registered in Postcrossing 13 days ago and all at once I requested 5 addresses which is the limit for the beginners ! Posted the cards on very same day. About 2 of those I'm almost sure that they are going to delay as they are going one of them  to China and the other to Russia and to be exact in the Russian Far East in Sakha Republic ( also known as Yakutia )! The other two are going to Ukraine & Belarus so they might also delay a bit , even though there is everyday connection from my city to both Kiyv and  Minsk. But I was really hoping that the 5th card would reach its destination within a week or 10 days mostly as it is heading to Germany ! When it will be registered the first card will be coming on my way plus only then I will be able to message other postcrossers about private swap ! Yes , true , I'm "talking" too much. I told you , I'm impatient !
Well , as the days are passing I'm digging my old ones and here I have one from Brazil showing the famous Iguazu falls.  Iguazu falls are in the border of Brazil ( the Brazilian state of Parana to be more exact ) and Argentina (the Argentinian province Misiones). The name of the falls and the river itself of course comes from Guarani words " y" that means water and "uasu" that means big ! According to a local legend , a god was planning to marry one beautiful woman called Naipi , who fled with her mortal lover Taroba in a canoe. This -of course - outraged the god , that sliced the river , created those waterfalls and condemned the two lovers to an eternal fall ...
This card has come to me written and stamped ( I must find the way to scan and upload the stamps only ) back in 1996 by my Saudi Arabian penfriend at those times during his holidays in Brazil/Argentina ! Thank you Maher :))
